Sophie Valentine Cowan

Sophie Valentine Cowan is from Corby in Northamptonshire. Having trained for ordination at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, she served her curacy in Desborough (Anglican–Methodist LEP), Dingley, Brampton Ash and Braybrooke in the Peterborough Diocese, and is now a parish priest in Ipswich. Having grown up and lived most of her life on estates, Sophie is aware of the many challenges faced by those living in economically deprived areas, and the prejudices that are often projected on people from such communities. Sophie is a PhD candidate at the University of Wales Trinity St David, researching estate churches and writing from a working-class, feminist perspective.
